XR OSCE-haptic Feedback Technology 2026/09/29

Introductions

Dental training relies on force and tactile perception, but current VR systems cannot provide synchronized dual-sensory feedback, forcing students to learn through risk-sensitive clinical practice. The lack of a standardized interface also makes training difficult to quantify and objectively evaluate.

Technical Advantages and Features

  • Position and Pose Detection: The haptic grip enables fully flexible operation with six degrees of freedom, achieves hair-level precision control of ±0.05 mm, and supports finger pose detection for real-time sensing of finger motion changes.
  • Integrated Perception and Real-time Feedback: Integrates force and tactile feedback to simulate the reaction forces of different materials, and uses vibration-based haptics to deliver virtual touch sensations for clinical diagnosis and treatment needs.
  • Immersive Training and Quantified Clinical Data: Records the inferior alveolar nerve block needle path and injection site, detects injection motion, establishes quantitative evaluation criteria, and provides force and tactile feedback to closely replicate clinical procedures.

Industrial Applications and Business Opportunities

  • Industry Applications
    • Healthcare industry for clinical training and professional competency assessment in medical institutions.
  • Application Examples
    • Clinical medical training has been validated at Kaohsiung Medical University’s School of Dentistry, where participating clinicians consistently confirmed the system’s ease of use and educational support value.
    • The system is applicable to medical training and clinical assessment, integrating haptic feedback, real-time analytics, and motion tracking, with high integration and scalability across specialties such as dentistry and surgery.
