Ling-Chiao Chang

Ling-Chiao Chang Biography

Ling-Chiao Chang recently earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from National Central University in Taoyuan, Taiwan, where she also completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Her academic training has been dedicated to machine design, with a particular focus on cycloid planetary gear drives.

Under the supervision of Professor Dr.-Ing. Shyi-Jeng Tsai in the Machine Design Laboratory, her research concentrated on tooth contact analysis and loaded tooth contact models for cycloid planetary gear systems. She worked on improving load distribution, deriving cutting tool profiles for gear manufacturing, and designing novel structures for gear drives. These efforts led to multiple journal publications and international conference presentations in Germany, Japan, and Vietnam.

She also gained valuable international experience through academic exchanges at Hiroshima University and Shizuoka University in Japan, which enriched her cross-cultural communication skills and broadened her global engineering perspective. In 2022, she was awarded the Taiwan–Germany Sandwich Program scholarship funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, enabling a one-year research stay at the Gear Research Center of the Technical University of Munich. This experience further advanced her expertise in gear design and strengthened her ability to collaborate in multicultural environments.

Currently, Dr. Chang is a researcher at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), where she applies her expertise in mechanical design and gear systems to develop innovative solutions for industrial applications. Her work bridges academic research with practical engineering challenges, fostering technological advancement to support industrial growth.
